AI Index Drop describes the observed disappearance of an AI-built website or webpage from Google Search after it was initially indexed. The website may appear in search results for a short time and later become completely unavailable through Google.

AI Index Drop describes the observed disappearance of an AI-built website or webpage from Google Search after it was initially indexed. The website may appear in search results for a short time and later become completely unavailable through Google.

AI Index Drop Theory is the idea that Google’s automated systems may identify certain AI-related signals and apply additional indexing scrutiny. These signals could include fully AI-generated content, recognizable AI website patterns, AI-hosted subdomains, or repeated indexing requests involving AI-built websites.

AI Index Drop Theory is the idea that Google’s automated systems may identify certain AI-related signals and apply additional indexing scrutiny. These signals could include fully AI-generated content, recognizable AI website patterns, AI-hosted subdomains, or repeated indexing requests involving AI-built websites.

The theory proposes that these signals might result in delayed indexing, removal from the index, rejected indexing requests, or restrictions affecting other websites connected to the same Search Console account.

Esteban Maraboli introduced these unofficial terms through an exploratory case study involving multiple ChatGPT-built websites. His observations showed that AI-created pages repeatedly encountered indexing problems while non-AI websites submitted during the same investigation were accepted and indexed normally.

The case study documents an observed pattern and raises the possibility that Google may treat certain AI-built or AI-hosted websites differently to address quality concerns, automated spam, identifiable AI footprints, or potential parasite SEO practices.
